relaxxxx!

Hehe my biggest lesson in having kids sometimes is - the need to just let go, let it be... it isn't a big deal.

Crafting with kids is a lesson in releasing control. Letting them create - guiding rather than dictating.

Hehe... i've never been a neat person when it comes to making things. My drawings are never steady and clean, my crafts are never perfect. For a while this stopped me for doing anything. I couldn't control what came naturally to me. Jagged lines and frantic imperfect production.

The kids, they don't let me dwell in that. They are fast and want things fast. They don't care about the details just the finished product.

They will not wait for perfection.

Perfection isn't necessary.

I found this frustrating at first.

But now... i know it's what i always needed. Push past an ideal of what it should look like. Past the dissapointment when it doesn't turn out. Make. Learn. DO.

THAT'S AWESOME mum!

I say they have low standards. But i'm glad for it- the next thing i do gets refined. I find my processes- the laying out of equipment and supplies, the instruction, the procedures. Unaware- they teach me these things.

We create our wild imperfections.

Then i step back - and they add the last touch.

Gigantic imaginations.

And that's how Awesome is made.
