Wabi Sabi

Motherhood is soooo Waba Sabi sometimes! LOL that's probably the wrong context, but this is one of Jacies chosen library books this week - we finally got round to it being that it was at the bottom of the pile.

He chose it because there's a cat on it.

He loves cats. Except for Scarface Claw  from Hairy Maclary. That's because Scarface claw is a baddie guy.

Haha, anyway it seemed fitting to use "Wabi Sabi" as the starting point for today, a day where the kids played and i kinda drifted,  doing all the things i should whilst not really being present except when absolutely necessary.

We found joy in simplicity - playing with potatoes and paper bags, eating party pies and playing with kitchen toys. Some days i'm reminded that the kids don't need huge projects. They love ordinary things sometimes even more.

To Stella two potatoes stuck together with a toothpick and a texta face, was just as lovable as her beloved soft toys.

Che thanks me for washing his toys and drying them, returning them at the promised time.

Tivianh persists with her homework, even though i made her rewrite it numerous times. We made a pact to get this *messy* stigma off her report card and i remind her that all it takes is practice. She cries at one point when i rub out her words for the third time - and then looking at the marks - replace the entire sheet with a photocopy and tell her we have to start over, but she wipes the tears away quickly and lifts her head. Side by side we finish the page. She is pleased with her efforts, i am proud of her for not giving up.

Jacie overreacts sometimes when someone hurts him - he cries foul like a world cup soccer player. But i love his honesty- when i'm not there to witness how he was injured, and he comes to me crying - i like to say 'Did Che/Stella push you? CHEEEEEE!' and Jacie will go from full bawling to 'No!! He didn't do it! I just hurt myself!' defence in a matter of seconds, choosing Truth over injury

Hehe... These were the little details of the day that mattered. The small moments when we are 'simple, imperfect, natural, modest and mysterious.'

haha - to bed i go, in search for the tools to boost my transmission/reception signals... lol.

But here are the kidlings with the word/prescription of the day:

Love n licks ya'll peace out.
