The first time

I clicked on a blog that i follow on and off that i found on one of my facebook roamings the title caught my interest (Do you remember your first time?) - hehe it's not much in the way of interesting reads, but it did pose a question i've run into before...

When was the last time you left your comfort zone and did something for the first time?

hmmm i pondered for a while - thought well i'll be doing a mud run.. that's definitely a first! I really don't know. Geez....i know! i had a baby 6 years ago!

Haha... i had forgotten that OTEN had sent me an email about an online chat session/class that was for 'Newbies' - that i had told Zane i'd need some time tonight.

I forgot about it since making dinner and trying to get the kids to eat while battling a sudden wave of nausea (no not pregnancy related)- then suddenly it occured to me when Zane walked in just after 7 that i was missing something.

Thankfully the class was at 7.30 and not 7 as i had originally thought.

Anyway... i made it. And as i giggled to myself listening to the Teacher talk while we sat in a program viewing her slides with a chat window as our form of interaction...it hit me that - hey i've never done this before.

Haha since enrolling into the course, i haven't done much other than log in and become completely lost and left it 'for another time.'. Actually being in this program with this voice addressing me - (albeit by the name on my license and not Vien at all- which was pretty odd)... haha made it real... i'd actually enrolled in a course. For the first time in almost 8 years, i needed to 'study.'

Online study is completely foreign to me. I like my paper. I like books. i like to take things places and ponder them without needing a power outlet.  I can't read an e-book. While i spend all day reading online... I can't 'study' online. SO i told myself.

Then it occurred to me that enrolling in an online course and telling yourself you can't study online - are very counter productive ways to think! Haha... so i'm out of my comfort zone. I'm doing something for the first time.

Maybe it'll be the last time.

Who knows.

Still pretty cool.

In your face life!

Haha... in other news, Dave turned 29. You can read what he wrote last year here i must get him to update it with his 29th year summary and ponderings.

Chris left to head back to Canada- i can't believe how fast the year has gone since she left.

We ate, we talked, we made merry.

The kids got water guns and weren't allowed to fill them - so they made sound effects and shot each other.

The time changed.

School resumed.

Zane booked us a holiday.

I'm a coupla weeks off turning 32.

Hehe... oooh sooo got distracted but i'll leave you with this:

Aaron Koblin, head of the Data Arts Team in Google’s Creative Lab:

They say an elephant never forgets. Well, you are not an elephant. Take notes, constantly. Save interesting thoughts, quotations, films, technologies…the medium doesn’t matter, so long as it inspires you. When you’re stumped, go to your notes like a wizard to his spellbook. Mash those thoughts together. Extend them in every direction until they meet.
