I woke up this morning a little apprehensive. I'd invited 9, 14-15 year olds to a restaurant i hadn't booked. Had a budget i wasn't sure how to work.
Haha i panicked a little because i had committed to a lot of things- menus and budgets, pick ups, drop offs, minding kids taking more kids... being here and there and everywhere.
It's going to sound corny, but i stepped back, came online- saw a video - Anthony Robbins. 5 Minutes Tony, you have 5 minutes to show me the way.
The first thing he talks about - is successfully achieving a goal. The first step is to see a clear outcome.
I tell myself if i want to believe this is how the universe works, i better commit to it, and i picked up a pen, wrote on the only paper i could find (the back of a novel that was in my handbag) and wrote this:
Outcome for today:
To throw Thao an awesome party with her friends on budget and have everything work out to produce an amazing day.
With this outcome in front of me, i waited til 9, took action - called the place, told the person on the the side, what i had planned and that i would come in to choose the menu- packed all 5 kids under my care into the car, and set off to achieve.
15 minutes - A menu choosen - under budget and within ample time. I took the kids home- fed them lunch and set off for phase 2.
The party was a surprise for my cousin Thao/Kim who will be turning 15 on Friday. She will be spending much of this week in hospital with her sister- leading up to the 28th where she is scheduled to donate bone marrow.
I've posted on the Ho's before, they are sweet and caring, genuinely great people with open hearts and willing smiles. We wanted to do something special for a girl who has given unconditionally to her little sister, who when she first found out about the diagnosis and we came to see her, said to us- don't cry, don't be sad- we have to be positive for her.
She Has been, for the long months that followed, and i know in the months to follow. They battle it together, side by side as a family. And i only hope that my kids will grow up loving each other as much as they obviously do.
But today, we made it about her, a celebration of an extraordinary young lady. Happy early birthday dude!
I'm glad you all had fun
Thank you to the friends who made it possible, to the cousins/sisters who always throw financial backing and emtional support behind my ideas... lol ...
And to the kids, who waited semi -patiently for me who followed me wherever i led and who behaved very well for the most part, Thank you.
I was apprehensive at the beginning about 5 kids and the ability to pull off a last minute surprise party....
I stated in my outcome that i wanted an amazing day.
Count the kids:
Yes, that's right 7! Haha, because amazing is not- apprehension, 5 kids and a surprise party... amazing is perfect peace, 7 kids and a successfully executed plan.
Amazing is also THIS:
ANd this:
:) Sleepy. Gnight :)
