I've been lagging so much that it's really time to pull my socks up.
I know the energy has been warped here- haha but bear with me- i gotta find get into the swing of the new year and new responsibilities that come with it.
I only have crappy photos of the boys today - i left my camera for a resolve to clean up the floor and a few spaces that have been bugging me.
The pics of Tivi were taken before school. I talk about her a lot these days - because she's been surprising me with so many things. She's grown up so fast and while she is completely nuts at times, sometimes she is the voice that brings me back to the reality- that it's not such a big deal and i need to 'Breeelax mum!'
Haha, she cheered today when i said she had homework after dinner n showers- She said ' i like this homework- i didn't like the kindergarten homework.'
I love that she loves school now. I love that she braved Vietnamese school on her own and that she gets up early to come to Karate without complaint, even though she still won't actually show the Master that she isn't too young/shy and we haven't signed up at all.
We go to watch and she does random copies of what the whitebelts do. At the moment i'm content to teach her the starting time, the duration, the need to watch, listen and know the basics. We learn by watching, then practice at home on Daddy... hehe we decided we would go every week until she wants to start.
I enjoy watching, i'm semi relieved i don't have to start training! Haha...
i've seen her increasingly patient with her brothers, helping them gather their things, helping them off ledges, helping them fix their toys... i wonder if it's just that i never noticed before.
I like the way we are these days - a team. Me n my lil crazy beautiful girl.
In other news, Marty won the Adam Portraiture Prize
http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/culture/visual-arts/6463239/Welch-wins-prestigious-portrait-award
Really cool coz it's about time those judging panels recognised his awesome skills! Really happy and excited for them all, because behind the talent- they are amongst the nicest, warmest, loveliest people the world has to offer. Congrats not only to Marty but to Amanda, Joel, Scott and Jack, everyone knows you guys are the center of everything to him - you all must be stoked, because we're all grins over here too! :)
So today i'm thankful for the fact that great things have come round to those that really do deserve it. Thankful that life somehow got me to a place where i know an artist, who despite intimidatingly extraordinary work, and increasing fame- would open the doors to my family at any time and offer us accommodation, baked goods and coffee.
In our first ever real conversation outside of work (online), i showed Zane some crappy stuff i did in Tafe, and he in turn sent me some paintings done by his brother in law which completely put any drawing i ever did, that i might have thought was half decent to shame.
I gotta say, being related to Marty is one of the biggest perks of our marriage... haha i always marvelled at how people could paint like that- and it is awesome to have seen his works from start to finish.
I'm pretty sure this award is just the beginning. You guys have worked so hard, for so long, and it's al gonna come together and pay off!! How exciting!! Haha i bet you used the secret didn't you Marty??? Lol!
Also grateful today for the little peeps as always. For Che who told me once again i was 'the best mum' for giving him some pieces of paper.
For Jacie who asks me if i'm happy and if i'm his friend after every toilet incident.
For Tivs, who mucks around and giggles, but also does what she's supposed to do so much quicker and without prompting these days.
For Zane, who despite not getting me the ribs i wanted for dinner- is still at 12.38am fiddling with Martys website, incredibly tired and frustrated - but also incredibly happy and proud of his brother (inlaw). I love the weirdness of how despite Amanda being his sister, he would find reasons not to for her but would do anything for Marty. Haha... Ahh siblings.
Anyway, i sent off finally the inscription notice for the little plaque we got for Janice tonight... strangely she was the first person i thought of when i saw the facebook announcement about Martys prize. I thought- wow she would have been soooooooooooooooooooo excited for them all.
Miss you nanna. I bet Manda does heaps tonight too. *licks Amanda* beeee happppppy!!!
Anyway... love you dudes.
:)
