So tired

She was having breakfast - a sandwich and sliced mangoes- and suddenly she says "I want fried Rice!" and i  was relieved to hear her say she wants to eat something- because she's been sick and insanely frustrating with her food. ("What do you wanna eat Tivs?" "I don't know... i'm not hungry" followed soon after with "I don't want this" and "My tummy hurts").

Okay i say, we can have fried rice.

She sits for a while and says "i'm serious! i want fried rice now!"

Explaining to her that it was now 7.50 and she was due to be ready for school shortly- we didn't have time to cook - i promised her we would make it for dinner.

So before she got home, i chopped up all her ingredients and put them all in separated bowls, little bamboo ones we got from Vietnam- all neat and prettylike.

She did the rest while i took photos and gave instructions. She loves to cook. She loves also to help wash dishes. Haha... She sat down to eat and said proudly 'I cooked my own food!!'

Che looked at his bowl exclaimed "Yum! I love this- Thanks Tiv!"

It was pretty cool. I told Tivi how my mum used to cook the yummiest food, and i always regretted never learning from her - and that i was glad she was more organised and interested in things that were useful. She grinned and told me all about her day.

I made Jace lay down on the bed, and he slammed backwards and onto Tivis tooth. She wouldn't stop touching it. The crying face is because she insisted she wasn't tired and did not want to go to bed after storytime- she was the first one asleep.

Jacie wakes up every morning and rolls out of bed, doing his little bouncy Jacie walk and rubbing his eyes. He says in his little whiney Jacie voice 'I waking up!' to whoever he sees first. He always goes to the Mat in the living room and crashes onto the big cushion. This morning he fell asleep again with his bum up in the air.

He never leaves timeout when he's in trouble. Until he's told, he stands and hangs his head and has his terribly sad and sorry face on. But as soon as you show a hint of a smile, he grins and his entire face lights up and he hugs you.

The latest craze is to climb on my back whenever i'm sitting down.

Che, your ears don't seem to be working very well anymore- but you still know how to get back in the good books. You throw your arms around my neck and tell me every so often that you love me so much- then you start listing all the other things you love. These are facts to you and you say it like so.

I love that when you are quiet, it doesn't mean you're doing something dodgey (like it usually does when your siblings are quiet) it just means you've found a place to play with your favourite things. You can play quietly on your own for hours, making up stories for your lego, your cars, your soft toys.

I love that you always come to find me at night to  remind me that i haven't yet given you kisses, and no matter how tired you are, how heavy your eyelids seem to be- after kisses, you have to tell me your favourite part... and you think about it carefully before you answer. Today you said it was 'Having a little nap'. I have no idea how to get you to stop jumping off things or on my bed, or diving and rolling across the mat- but when i tell you i'm cross with you- you narrow your eyebrows with that worried face of yours and thoughtful eyes and you try to explain yourself the best way you can think to explain.

It always makes me laugh that you tell me stories over n over, with all the details and when you watch movies you always find a catch phrase- so for days you've been telling me to 'Take it to the chorus.' and all i can think is- geez you're a random kid. Haha... i love how you play with your brother, and how your family means the world to you.

Grug + storytime with dad after work. They look lovely and i know there will come a time - when we will remember the evenings where they begged for another book before being sent to bed, with fondness and wonder where those days have gone. I love how you all giggled and loved the plan- and never told dad, that i had already read you a story before he got home.

So in all you had 5 books. Shhhh.... i love that books are such a treat to you all that we can play such silly tricks and you think you're getting away with doing something cheeky.

In the last book - a Charlie and Lola story- where Lola claims that sizzles the Dog could paint, i came across an interesting thought. Zane asked the kids if they thought dogs could really do those things. They said NOOoooO! I smiled at Tivi and told her why not, maybe they can, elephants could paint. She said NOOOOO! and with the miracle of youtube, i showed my daughter (and sons) that possible- is only limited by our ability to see Past what we THINK we know.
