Mum n Che - rule the galaxy!

Che,

Last night - when we were walking out of the Thai place where we had dinner, you were holding my hand- looked up and asked me something i couldn't hear. I bent down and asked you what you were saying.

'When is it Mummy/Che day?'

OHHHhhh dear---- hahaha i'm pretty sure scrawled in my calender - Mummy/Che 'date night' was uhhh - supposed to be happening right then.

Haha - it's school holidays and i had lots going on - i remembered then forgot then remembered and decided Friday nights are no good for  dates with men under 5yrs of age.

'Well i'm glad you asked Che! It's Tomorrow!!'

YAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!

Haha, Yay indeed!

I asked you again what you wanted to do, 'Play Ninjago mum! and Star wars. Maybe some beyblade. We can watch Ninjago too!'

Haha looking forward to it.

This morning at breakfast i whispered in your ear, that since it was sunny- why don't we pack some toys and play at the playground.

You smiled. A little later you came up to me, and said - that since Jacie missed his Mummy/Jace day, you could share with him and we could have mummy, Che and Jace day. Jacie heard this and rejoiced. Haha, i assured you that i would make it up to Jacie. That today would just be for us. You told me you didn't mind. Because of this i wanted it to just be us even more. I know how often you step back and let your little brother or your big sister, take the spotlight- and i know you don't even care that they do.

So today, just me and you. Jacie protests but i ignore him and he forgets as he always does. You agree that it would be okay, if i do something with Jace another time. You try and explain this to him, and he argues and takes back his Anakin.

This is what the backpack looked like, Jacie wouldn't let us borrow his Anakin so we had Tivis Captain Rex instead. Beyblades, matchbox cars, and ninjago toys.

We stopped at the shops to pick up some fruit to take to the park - you said to me 'We should get that star wars toy for Kynan, because when you got me General greivous, we didn't get anything for Kynan, i know what we should get him, i saw it last time we went to the shops with dad- can we get it for him mum?' I tell you i don't know what it is, you tell me you'll show me.

Okay, we'll see if it's not too expensive.

In the car you keep talking, and you're telling me about Ninjago - ' i don't know why Jay talks so much mum.'

Maybe its coz Jay sounds like Che and you both like to talk a lot.

'I don't know why i always need to tell you things mum, sometimes at night i want to tell you all these things, even though i'm tired - i know i think its because the shower makes me awake and then i have to tell you things. I think that's why.'

Haha, it might be.

At the shops we go to the ATM and you ask me if you can press the buttons - we do it together then you take my hand and ask 'Are we going to Big W?'

We go to Big W. We can't find the toy for Kynan, but you're eyeing the light sabers... just looking mum - and i ask you if you want one. You say Kynans got lots, and i reason that for our date- Tivi and I went to the movies which costed more than the light saber. So i tell you to choose one.

You like Darth Mauls because it's double sided. But Yodas because it's green. You ask me if Yoda is strong.

I tell you he is the strongest Jedi. The master of masters.

You tell me you like the double light saber, but you want the green one - because you 'want to be a good guy.'

It's the same way you play with your General Greivous - knowing he's a bad guy - you make up stories where he's changed and become good and is helping Jedi's.

This kind of thing makes me proud, and fearful for you all at the same time. I hope that you will always be idealistic, caring and sensitive - but i hope also that you will understand, that not all people are 'good guys' and sometimes, they don't want to be.

I notice your head turns as we pass donut king. We go to get batteries for your light saber... coming back out we stop and get you a Donut. A cellphone shaped donut. You choose it for it's Smartie buttons.

We choose fruit. 'I want strawberries, apples and mandarins.'

We hit the park, sit down and you tell me you have to eat your donut before it melts.

I spend a lot of time just listening to you talk. You talk a lot when we're alone, with all sorts of stories- i wonder where my painfully shy little toddler has gone. In his place is this little boy, thoughtful and full of questions and memories of 'yesterday when we did/went/saw...'

Then we go to play. We don't have a screwdriver to put in the batteries for the light saber, but it didn't matter-  your imaginations full of a life of its own.

We set up scenes and defeat Grievous over and over again. I love how you play. How you imagine yourself always as brave and heroic. One day you will be big- brave and heroic. Fear not young Jedi. The force is strong in you.

We eat a happy meal for lunch, play at a second park. I ask you if we should go home, because its getting hot and there's no more shade. You say yes, lets go borrow dads screw driver and we can put batteries in the light saber.

On the way home you say ' I miss my dad mum, at the park- i wish he could see me.'

Hehehe... could you be any cuter.

We get home, open up the Saber and realised we bought the wrong sized batteries- so you go with dad to get some. We tell everyone we're continuing Mummy Che day in the bedroom - we have to have an ultimate battle. we kick them all out and close the door.

Haha, you follow all my made up storylines - we capture people- make dorky videos. You always win.

One of my favourite bits was where i hit your light saber out of your hands, and you closed your fist, pointed them towards me and said 'I'm using the Force! you have to die!'

I tell you Jedi's don't kill people. Anger leads to the dark side.

You get your buzz  and shoot with the laser button. I say hey - Jedis don't kill! And you  say "buzz isn't a Jedi!'

Touche!

I love how your mind works. How you think. How you think about others. I love that you remember things when i tell you. I tell you Anakin goes to the dark side- because he killed, because the Force can be used for good or bad depending on what you do and how you choose.

You tell me, it's because Anakin wanted to be the most powerful, but Jedi's are supposed to protect people.

I love how you pay attention to the details. A stark contrast to your rash and oblivious sister.

How did you become this four year old? When did that terrified little baby grow up into this little boy full of words and wisdom- and what did i ever do to deserve such devotion.

Thank you for today. For reminding me of adventure, and of heroism - of imagination and innovations. Sometimes i'm at a loss for words as to how to describe you... all i know is- when you get older, some girl is going to be incredibly lucky!

You are awesome!
