It's one of those things that for some reason i always had this aversion to.
I grew up like most Vietnamese kids in Australia in the 1980s-90s- with mothers and aunties who made mountains of garments to support the income of husbands that worked where ever they could - haha you'd think i wouldda picked up thing or two.
Nope.
Haha it's on my to do list though- the whole sewing shebang. Two things i suggest anyone with a mother still around does is 1. Learn to cook your favourite dishes the way she makes them and 2. Learn to sew if you don't know how to already. Haha when you have kids of your own- these are things that are invaluable.
It's 12.30 and i'm doing what i do best- glue gunning a costume...
haha
Stella turns 5 soon and her party is on Sunday.
Because she chose a superhero room in the play centre, Van made it a super hero theme.
At first, the kids wanted to be, the usual- the Avengers..
Haha, what about Captain Planet?? YEAAAAAAAH!
Che loved this idea until... he realised he may have to paint his face blue. Nope. No facepainting. Hehe he just won't do it.
You know what Che, be your own super hero. Be super Che.
I'll make you whatever costume you want.
I want a rainbow cape! And a mask - with ears like batman!
Interesting...
Haha... i took them to spotlight today.
He came across this material he liked - it did have many colours. Is that good for a cape?
Everyone will laugh at me i think - he answers.
Why would they laugh at you?
Because...
Stella who was with us, said no they won't! You'll look so cool!
He grins. Okay mum! That one.
Haha he decides he no longer wants the red mask he chose first- i want it gold!
I let him choose his mask.
I laugh when we come across a chicken mask.
Jacie clutches it the rest of the way. He doesn't want to be Ironman any more.
Tivi is set on being Gaia- the spirit of the earth from Captain Planet.
i grab some purple material on the way out.
when we get home - Che asks me if he could please just play with the material for his cape.
I tie it around his neck in a knot.
I laugh at the mask that looks opera-ish. And the gleaming spotted rainbow fabric.
He's super Che. He loves all colours.
Jacien says- i am super chicken!!
Tivi makes me tie her up in draping purple satin.
They are hilarious.
Unlike any super heroes i've ever seen...
but the most super awesome kids i've ever met.
'Do you want me to put some black on your mask Che?'
'No! nothing else It's done!'
Hehe i'm am fascinated by the fact that he has such a clear idea of what he wanted. More so that he is happy with how that vision was roughly executed.
Hehehe Jacie: 'I'm super chicken, super chicken! I can Fly and wake people up!' LOLsers.
Tivi: Nobody is going to know who we are.
Do you want to be something else then? Like wonderwoman?
Nope, i want to be Gaia, spirit of the earth!
Hahaha that's the way. Who cares what people say.
Sorry- rambling- i need to go to sleep! tomorrow i'll tell you about awesome times and kids who march to their own beat or bok. Bok Bok. Haha...
hehe in other news we're doing the mud run this weekend yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! More on that soon :) niteo!
